3D TV & Sky Supertelly!. Over the last few months, BskyB have been thoroughly testing 3D TV, showing limited screenings of the service at various public houses and clubs across the UK. To say this has been a complete success would be an understatement, with viewer feedback being the driving factor over the decision to launch 3D TV in the UK over the next few months.
3D TV will be available through Sky TV HD Boxes, so if you have the Sky HD system already, you are closer to seeing 3D TV than you thought.
The only part of 3D TV that you will need to be aware of is the TV itself - which will have to be 3D compatible. Right now, there are limited manufacturers that have availability of 3D TV sets, but as soon as the service hits the market, there will be more and more coming to the TV stores. Should you decide to take 3D TV in its early stages, you will be looking at an average price for a 32inch 3D compatible TV costing around £2-2,500 - but don't let that worry you now, because their will be a market fight between the manufaturers as soon as 3D is available.
3D TV and the Digital Switchover. Unfortunately, their are no plans for 3D TV to be made available over standard digital TV services for the foreseable future - but like anything in the digital world, it will no doubt come through eventually.
